We all know kids swear they will help take care of the pets, but the reality\u00a0was it was my Mom who washed the dog at midnight after he had been skunked.<\/p>\n<p>Mom &#8211; by allowing\u00a0your kids\u00a0to grow\u00a0up with pets, you not only <a title=\"Study about dogs and babies immune systems\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-504763_162-57468598-10391704\/babies-with-dogs-less-likely-to-develop-colds-ear-infections-as-infants\/\" target=\"_blank\">improved our immune systems<\/a>, but\u00a0you encouraged relationships with three powerful influences in my life. Among many many other things, Sheppy taught me\u00a0not to\u00a0judge a book by it&#8217;s cover. He was big.\u00a0 He looked like a lion. He chased the gas man up on the hood of the family station wagon more than once. He taught me that big strong\u00a0beings could be gentle by choice. \u00a0I think he always pretended to need his giant paw pet at just the right moment you needed a hug. Which\u00a0leads to Blackie. She is her own story, but Blackie is the reason the idealist in me grew into such an undeniable monster.\u00a0 She is the real reason Gyspy Dog Ops exists. She taught me that you can change an outcome with love, caring, and sheer will. And from\u00a0your actions, someone eles&#8217;s heart can change.\u00a0Life won&#8217;t always let your\u00a0pick\u00a0your moment or let you know that this is your moment &#8211; \u00a0so treat\u00a0everyday\u00a0like your actions matter and\u00a0you can\u00a0change the world. Even one cat or dog at a time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least on the list of family pets, and of course I&#8217;m not counting the fish or the lizards because they either don&#8217;t blink or they are gross, was my Clarkie. Thank you Clarkie for always taking care of my other BFF, Grandpa. You were a loyal and loving friend to him and you made my relationship with my Grandpa so much richer. You taught me that if you are not stingy or jealous with your love it will come back to you 100 fold. You always made me feel safe and loved. And thanks for always posing for whatever ridiculous\u00a0\u00a0picture I needed you to pose for.
