We have some important safety information to share with you. There is a confirmed pack of 6 dogs roaming the neighborhood. Five of the dogs are intact (unneutered) males. They are packing and traveling with a female dog. We are coordinating with the city to try to catch the pack. The dogs have not been aggressive towards people, but they are male dogs jockeying for dominance over each other for the female \u2013 they are fighting each other to the point of injury. They are also getting very skinny and hungry. Please do NOT feed the dogs. We will be feeding the dogs and providing food and water in a known location that they come to regularly. We want them to continue to return to this location where we can capture them. \u00a0 There is a live trap on the 200 block of South Rosemont. \u00a0To help us successfully catch the dog pack, please do not walk down the sidewalk next to the trap, please do not park in front of the trap, please do not slowly drive by the trap. Please REPORT sightings of the pack to 311 and to Fran: 214.417.4142 Awareness is important \u2013 here are a few things to help keep you, your family pets, and your neighborhood safe while a known pack is traveling the neighborhood: Prevention and planning are the keys to keeping your pets safe and enjoying your daily walk. Walk with mace or citronella spray and know what to do if you should encounter a loose dog or a dog pack. Please use caution if you are walking on South Rosemont or Wentworth after dark. \u00a0For more information on how to safely walk your dog in the neighborhood Cats: Please watch your porch kitties eat their food and then take in the cat food to avoid the cat and the pack dogs meeting at the food dish. Please help us impress upon the city council that they need to fund and staff Animal Services in a manner that keeps our neighborhood safe.
