His microchip was probably the most important thing. Please use this happy ending to inspire you to run through this check list of important proactive things you should do to keep your pets safe:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collars and tags at all times: <\/strong>People are more inclined to stop and help a dog with a collar and tags. Tags with your contact information\u00a0provide immediate information about where the dog belongs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Microchip your pet: <\/strong>Encase your pet loses their collar, a chip can be read by any vet or any shelter.\u00a0Chips facilitate\u00a0a quick return of lost dogs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If your pet gets out: <\/strong>Get the word out to the neighborhood. Use social media, lost and found pet sites, printed posters, notify the shelter, notify the crime watch committee (they have a great system to communicate through the block captains), and check the shelters daily.<\/p>\n<p>How did Koby get home? His safe return was an amazing convergence of caring efforts on multiple fronts. Here&#8217;s a shout out to the people that helped him get home:<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to Barb and Yvette for posting\u00a0Koby on multiple social media outlets as well as to anyone who forwarded and or shared \u2013 there were many of you, including our GDO alum <a title=\"Francisco and Monroe aka Cisco and Chips\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gypsydogops.com\/?page_id=312\" target=\"_blank\">Cisco<\/a>&#8216;s Mom!<\/p>\n<p>To Randy and Derwin for stopping, on the way to something important, to help a lost dog in need.\u00a0Koby was having trouble walking and appeared to be injured. They called NOCUPP for help.<\/p>\n<p>To NOCCUP for caring for our neighborhood as if it was their own.\u00a0 Officer Keith loaded Koby in his police car and transported him to the Emergency Animal \u00a0Hospital.
