The Oak Cliff Animal Initiative <\/strong>
\nDate:<\/strong> Saturday, March 29th

What\u2019s the goal of this meeting? <\/strong>
\nWhile the adoption side of Dallas Animal Services is making great strides, the city and Dallas Animal Services has not been able to address and solve the loose and stray animal issues in our neighborhoods. The goal of this meeting is to see how neighbors can collaborate, communicate, educative, and advocate towards common animal welfare and quality of life goals. We will talk about what are we are doing as a community, what we are willing to do as a community moving forward, and what we expect our city services (DAS, Code Compliance, 311) to do to address the extraordinary animal issues in our neighborhood. We will be looking at both short term and long term solutions, collaborations, and resources that are available to our neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

We will discuss our neighborhood animal issues and challenges through 3 lenses: prevention, intervention, and enforcement. There are 8 major categories we would like to address:
\n1. Loose and Dangerous Dogs \/ Feral and Hard to Catch<\/strong>
\n 2. Spay and Neuter resources<\/strong>
\n 3. Educate about ordinances<\/strong>
\n 4. Educate about baseline ownership<\/strong>
\n 5. Return to Owner<\/strong>
\n 6. Abuse, Cruelty, Fighting<\/strong>
\n 7. Selling puppies on the corner\/ Puppy Mills \/ Backyard breeders<\/strong>
\n 8. Community Cats<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is this meeting for? <\/strong>
\nThis meeting will bring together Oak Cliff neighborhoods like Kings Highway, Sunset Hills, Bishop Arts, Elmwood, and Winnetka Heights. It is open to ALL neighbors and neighborhood stakeholders. Stakeholders include the people who live, work, support, and visit Oak Cliff. This includes: residents, business owners, realtors, developers, crime watch groups, animal advocates, animal rescuers, our neighborhood police officers, and representatives from our schools. We have invited the Mayor\u2019s liaison on animal issues, and our City Council representatives.<\/p>\n

This meeting is designed to give everyone a chance to talk collaboratively in non-confrontational environment about our unique animal issues. This meeting is powerful opportunity to bring together our concerns, ideas, and city resources to make our neighborhoods the best they can be. Oak Cliff neighborhoods are known for their thought leadership; we like to think out of the box and take care of our people and animals. Let\u2019s pull together with the city\u2019s leadership and solve this for all Oak Cliff and all of Dallas\u2019 residents. See you March 29th!<\/strong><\/p>\n
