\nCisco used to travel around across a 6 lane road at the base of the trinity bridge. He was found in the heat of the summer dehydrated, undernourished, mangy, parasite infested, and not neutered. He now lives the life of a rock star and hangs out on film sets.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nIf you adopt Elmer you can get a dog and a teddy bear all in one! \u00a0Elmer<\/a> is a sweet, sweet guy that loves to hang with people.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nSince the four letters on the dreidel are an acronym for “nes gadol hayah sham”\u2014”a great miracle happened there.” We put the dreidel on our little miracle <\/a>to represent GDO in our sincerest wishes to everyone for a Happy Chanukah.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nBirdie used to eat out of dumpsters behind Jonathan’s on Beckley Avenue. We literally found\u00a0Birdie<\/a>\u00a0in traffic in the middle of the BIG intersection at Beckley and Zang. She came very close to being run over and from dying from distemper. She had months of rehab from her medical issues, but look at her now – happy and healthy and living the life.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nOur sweet, sweet Chankla. When she was about 6 months old, her original owner was walking her without a leash and she was run over by a car. Her owner abandoned her on the spot. We call that day her best day ever. She is the resident dog at GDO and a herder by nature so naturally she trains all the rescues by example and shows them all the house rules. She is a busy, busy girl.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nFrankie was a 2013 pack dog. He was deemed un-adaptable by Dallas Animal Service because he was shy. Well that just seemed a shame to us so we pulled him and put him into the program. He had some serious medical issues including a chronic respiratory issue and heartworms, but we fixed him and now he lives the life of luxury with a wonderful forever family. Frankie’s success took months of treatment and was truly a neighborhood effort. Check out his story here<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nPitty\u00a0 (ready for adoption)<\/strong>
\nPitty\u00a0is one special girl. She is gentle as a lamb. We found Pitty living under cars on Wentworth during a terrible Xmas eve storm many years ago. She had an adorable poodle boyfriend who went on to live the life of love and luxury here in the neighborhood. Her sweet nature has made her a natural friend and excellent pillow to all the little sick dogs that have come through GDO. Pitty<\/a> is still looking for her forever home.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nGracie was skin and bones when we found her trying desperately to get in the Super Mercado Number Uno on 12th street for a snack. She was determined to get in and they were determine to keep her out…next thing you know she was getting shooed out into the middle of 12th street. We fixed her up and now Gracie <\/a>now lives the life with a family that adores her.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n

\nLura is Rudy’s sister and an\u00a0Operation Floppy Ear puppy<\/a>.\u00a0Lura is living large in her forever home here in Oak Cliff and honors our tradition of dressing up for all high holidays.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nStella can control humans with her mind and she rocks dog pajamas – what else do you need to know!?! We love you Stella!

\nJack<\/strong>
\nWhen we found Jack in downtown Dallas, he was just a few weeks old and he was hours away from dying from dehydration and heat\u00a0exhaustion in the 107 degree summer heat. He was just a tiny little peanut and he had an antibiotic resistant kidney infection and he was in terrible shape. But Jack had an entire fan club of people that rallied behind him and after months of treatment, he went onto to be adopted by a wonderful family that takes him on amazing road trips. Jack has put the current world tour on hold and has come home for the holidays. What a life that big boned Chihuahua<\/a> has.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nOur sweet alum Marty dresses up for every high holiday.\u00a0It is only appropriate that he keeps the party going since we originally found Marty wandering around the neighborhood chasing a lady dog during the Madri Gras parade a few years back. Marty is still\u00a0quite the ladies man, but\u00a0now lives with a house full of people and pets and never wanders away from his beloved family (neutering will help that way). He is one spoiled rotten guy.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
