Our second annual<strong> Oak Cliff Animal Initiative, <\/strong>an animal issues Town Hall Meeting co-hosted by City Councilman Scott Griggs, Gypsy Dog Ops, and Animal Commissioner Chris Watts, will be held Saturday, March 28th<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong>\u00a0Saturday, March 28<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time<\/strong>: 10:00 am-12 noon<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: Kidd Spring Recreation Center<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the goal of this meeting?<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile the adoption side of Dallas Animal Services is making great strides, the City and Dallas Animal Services have not been able to address and solve the loose and stray animal issues in our neighborhoods. The goal of this meeting is to see how neighbors can collaborate, communicate, educate, and advocate towards common animal welfare and quality of life goals.<\/p>\n<p>We will talk about what are we are doing as a community, what we are willing to do as a community moving forward, and what we expect our city services (DAS, Code Compliance, 311) \u00a0to do to address the extraordinary animal issues in our neighborhood. We will be looking at both short term and long term solutions, collaborations, and resources that are available to our neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is this meeting for?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis meeting will bring together Oak Cliff neighborhoods such as: Beckly Club, Dallas Land &amp; Loan, El Tivoli, Glen Oaks, Hampton Hills, all Kessler neighborhoods, Kidd Springs, Kiestwood, Kings Highway, Lake Cliff, L.O. Daniel, North Cliff, Ravinia Heights, Stephens Parks neighborhoods, Sunset Hills, Bishop Arts, Elmwood, Wynnewood, Winnetka Heights and more. You can get the full list from the OOCCL map below. If your neighborhood is not on the map and you would like to attend, give us a shout.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting is open to\u00a0<strong>ALL<\/strong> listed neighbors and neighborhood stakeholders. Stakeholders include the people who live, work, support, and visit Oak Cliff. We also have some new concerns we want the City to take seriously and we want to create a venue where the communities issues can be heard.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting is designed to give everyone a chance to talk collaboratively in non-confrontational environment about the unique animal issues challenging our neighborhoods. With that in mind, our meeting is being co-sponsored by Scott Grigg&#8217;s office. We will invited the Mayor\u2019s liaison on animal issues,\u00a0 our District 1 City Council representative, Scott Griggs, our District 1 Animal Commissioner, Chris Watts, and representatives from the District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting is powerful opportunity to bring together our concerns, ideas, and city resources to make our neighborhoods the best they can be. Oak Cliff neighborhoods are known for their thought leadership; we like to think out of the box and take care of our people and animals.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s meeting was a powerful first step towards changing how our City does business regarding loose animals in our neighborhoods.
